Course objective

Adapting students to the modern requirements of mathematical university education; acquaintance with the language of higher mathematics, the terminology and the general mathematical constructions underlying the various mathematical disciplines; forming the foundations of mathematical thinking; expanding students’ horizons and leveling their knowledge and skills in the field of computer mathematics and information technology

Course content

Set theory: sets, operations on sets, relations, relation properties and operations on relations, functions, equivalence relations, order relations; representation of sets, relations and functions in the computer, Gray code. Categories and functors. Algebraic structures: algebras and morphisms, algebras with one operation, algebras with two operations, vector spaces, barycentric coordinates, polylinearity, polynomials over a finite field, construction of a finite field. Computer mathematics: the structure of an electronic text document; word processors: MS Word, LaTeX, Mathematica; MS Excel spreadsheet processor; databases and database management systems; vector and raster graphic editors; color spaces and opacity
